I left the UK for health reasons, they were sick of me, and the lure of sun, sea, sand and salami brought me to Tenerife

A song, a smile and a yellow carrier bag, but maybe more lurks beneath the surface. Blessed with a nosey nature and a fanatical love of sport, encouragement arrived at a young age when Shoot magazine published my letter.

I was born and educated in Oxford, not the University, just a standard comprehensive that was so rough they thought you were getting cocky if you bought long life batteries.

Working in the Co-op's head office I started freelancing for The Oxford Mail covering ice hockey and was soon scribbling for national magazines covering the world's fastest game. Theatre and film reviews came next for several local publications as well as interviews with people like chef Antonio Carluccio, and Diesel founder Renzo Rosso to name drop just a few.

9 years on I'm still discovering fresh Tenerife delights chauffeured by the Titsa public bus company

I left the UK for health reasons, they were sick of me, and the lure of sun, sea, sand and salami brought me to Tenerife, a frequent holiday favourite. The Western Sun newspaper, based in west coast Los Gigantes, offered me a job and unlimited pencils and a few years later I branched out to freelance for Living Tenerife. CD Tenerife cast a spell on me from my arrival and I was soon sampling Dorada and singing sweet melodies on the terracing with the Armada Sur peña (fan club).

Exploring has been my great passion and 9 years on I'm still discovering fresh Tenerife delights chauffeured by the Titsa public bus company. Swimming keeps me vaguely fit and walking in the mountains doesn't do any harm.

Sipping an early morning coffee in a Los Cristianos bar as the sun burns off the haze over Roque del Conde, I can't help thinking how lucky I am.

Sorted Sites unleashed me onto the world of blogging and website copy and dragged me up to date with social media. I even traded in my old potato printer and plugged into an MP3 - still can't work out where the 8 track cartridge goes.

There's a lot more Tenerife roads to burn up and plenty more awful puns to be made so my mission continues. Sipping an early morning coffee in a Los Cristianos bar as the sun burns off the haze over Roque del Conde, I can't help thinking how lucky I am.
