As the North Airport serves the Spanish market it has a very different feel from the South Airport. It's much quieter; more laid back and somehow, more sophisticated. The location is amazing and I've been there just to meet friends for coffee and to sit at the first floor cafe and gaze out over the mountains.
It's a good airport for plane spotters too as there are clear views over the runways from the main hall. I don't think they'd be able to tick many numbers off their list (or whatever it is they do) though as there aren't many International flights. If you're island hopping, the service is fast, efficient and friendly and you get a brilliant, complimentary chocolate biscuit!
